Jacinta Allan leadership challenge: Ben Carroll confirms he will stand against Victorian premier

The Guardian reports that Victoria's deputy premier Ben Carroll will challenge for the Labor leadership after a cross-factional group of MPs confronted Premier Jacinta Allan, saying she'd lost majority support within her own party and urging her to resign. When Allan refused, Carroll confirmed his bid just four months before the state election.
