Canterbury Country Dance Orchestra Liner Notes

A recent post on LessWrong has surfaced the full text of liner notes from a 1972 Canterbury Country Dance Orchestra album. The band formed from musicians assembled by Dudley Laufman for the 1965 Newport Folk Festival, and became one of the leading ensembles of the contra dance revival. The notes reveal a remarkably multitalented group: a psychologist, leatherworker, physics professor, shop teacher, and others who described themselves as urban-oriented people who 'just sort of happened onto' folk music. They typically played in small units of three or four for dances and concerts across New England.
