Europe is increasingly at odds with Washington over restrictions on semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Dutch company ASML, which makes the world's most advanced chip-making tools, finds itself caught in the middle. According to TechCrunch, ASML's chief executive confirmed that China currently has access only to older-generation deep ultraviolet equipment — technology from roughly a decade ago. Yet the U.S. MATCH Act would now restrict even those older systems. The standoff reveals a fundamental divide: Europe wants to maintain its export business, while Washington aims to further limit China's semiconductor capabilities.
