According to NPR, a federal task force deployed to Memphis last fall as an anti-crime initiative became a large-scale immigration enforcement operation, resulting in widespread arrests. The majority of those arrested had no criminal convictions. President Trump has expressed interest in expanding this enforcement model to other cities.
