Amazon files application for direct-to-device satellite constellation

Amazon has filed plans with the Federal Communications Commission for a satellite constellation of more than five thousand one hundred satellites to deliver direct-to-device connectivity, per SpaceNews. The constellation would use existing Globalstar spectrum, enabling service to reach consumer devices directly without additional ground infrastructure. The filing signals Amazon's push into direct-to-device satellite communications.
