PIRAMID: Progress and Plans

ai

PIRAMID, a research group focused on AI interpretability, is sharing progress on using statistical physics to understand how neural networks learn, reports LessWrong. After a year of foundational work, the team is expanding its efforts and sharing details on three research directions: developing theoretical models of how networks form features during training, building better tools to measure what's happening inside those networks, and understanding how models fail when they encounter data similar to things they've seen before. The group is testing their theories against realistic large language models as they aim to accelerate progress over the next six to twelve months.
