Blaze battle rages in France as wildfire stable but not contained

Firefighters in southwest France are still working to contain a wildfire that has burned through more than forty thousand hectares of land, France 24 reports. About two hundred twenty thousand people, including both tourists and residents, have been evacuated as crews battle the blaze. Officials are hoping favorable weather conditions will help firefighters gain the upper hand, though as of Monday, the fire remained stable but not yet contained.
