Wisconsin tornado causes extensive damage and cuts power to thousands

A tornado tore through north-eastern Wisconsin on Monday, darkening the midday sky over Winnebago County and ripping roofs off homes as it cut power to more than thirty thousand people. The National Weather Service confirmed the twister struck about ninety miles north-west of Milwaukee, with the worst damage reported in Appleton and Menasha, where twisted metal was scattered across a highway and vehicles were flipped. Menasha police chief Matt Albrecht said some homes and businesses were severely impacted, according to the Guardian. Workers in the area sheltered in office basements as the storm passed through.
