Trump administration’s revision of Iran war casualties ‘huge disrespect’, say veterans

The Pentagon has quietly updated its casualty database to reclassify four service members killed in the Iran war as deaths from 'Overseas Operations' instead. The Guardian reports that military veterans are calling the move a disrespect to the fallen and their families. Retired rear admiral Michael E Smith, who founded National Security Leaders for America, said labeling the deaths as anything other than war casualties is ludicrous. The reclassification has drawn sharp criticism from veterans' groups over how the government chooses to remember those who died in the conflict.
