Per Simon Willison's Weblog, Moonshot AI has released the model weights for Kimi K3, a two point eight trillion parameter large language model available on Hugging Face. The one point five six terabytes come with commercial strings attached: companies exceeding twenty million dollars in annual revenue—or running a Model-as-Service business above that threshold—must negotiate a separate agreement with Moonshot before commercial use. To their credit, Moonshot honestly calls this "open weight" rather than claiming it's open source. The model is already available through OpenRouter from seven providers, priced at three dollars per million input tokens and fifteen dollars per million output tokens.
