Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan has resigned after a tumultuous 48-hour stretch in which Labor MPs made clear she'd lost their support. Per The Guardian, Allan initially signaled she would contest a leadership ballot but chose instead to step down. Her deputy, Ben Carroll, will now run for the Labor leadership as the state heads toward elections in four months.
