Burnham urged to increase tax on banks as Barclays’ profits soar

Barclays' half-year bonus pool jumped thirty percent to one point three billion pounds, up from one billion, The Guardian reports. The spike comes as the bank's profits surged. The TUC union is calling on officials, including Andy Burnham, to increase taxes on banks, arguing lenders can easily afford to pay more.
