Kenya investigating unexpected deaths of 15 elephants in national park

world

Kenya Wildlife Service is investigating the deaths of fifteen elephants over the past month in Amboseli National Park. The Guardian reports that ten of the animals showed signs of partial paralysis before dying within two days, and officials have detected a potential toxic substance in several of the carcasses. Amboseli sits near Mount Kilimanjaro and is one of Kenya's best-known parks for its elephant herds, so a cluster of unexplained deaths there has drawn close scrutiny. The investigation into what caused the poisoning remains ongoing.
