What's in the GOP megabill Trump is rallying behind
politics
House Republicans are advancing a roughly ninety-five billion dollar reconciliation package designed to sidestep the Senate's normal sixty-vote filibuster. Per Axios, the bill allocates seventy-three billion dollars for military and defense—much of it supporting ongoing Iran operations that have already cost thirty-seven point five billion since February; twelve billion for farm aid; and ten billion toward state voter ID grant programs under Trump's SAVE America Act. Senate Majority Leader John Thune has indicated reluctance, saying he'll wait until government funding is resolved first. But the White House and House Republicans are ramping up pressure for quick Senate passage before the midterm elections, with Trump personally urging action.
