‘Prioritising profit’: Australians regularly prescribed medicinal cannabis with very high THC levels
health
Doctors across Australia are regularly prescribing medicinal cannabis products with dramatically higher THC concentrations than anything tested in clinical trials, according to an investigation by The Guardian. Researchers at Monash University evaluated the available evidence and found some prescriptions contain up to four times the potency of trial-tested medications. Of more than a thousand medicinal cannabis products available on the market, only two have been formally evaluated by Australia's drug regulator. That gap between what's being prescribed and what's been tested raises significant questions about how the market is being regulated.
