The UK Home Office is set to roll out AI-powered facial recognition to estimate the ages of migrants arriving in Britain, and children's charities are warning it could misclassify child refugees as adults. According to The Guardian, rights groups say the underlying models carry a racialized bias that puts Black children fleeing conflict zones at particular risk of being wrongly housed with adults. Campaigners, including the Human Rights Network, are urging ministers to scrap the plan before it's introduced.
