Glen Hansard, Irish Musician and ‘Once’ Star Who Won Oscar for Best Song, Dies at 56

Glen Hansard, the Irish musician and actor who won the best original song Oscar for "Falling Slowly" from the 2007 film "Once," died on Wednesday in a motorcycle crash in his home city of Dublin. He was fifty-six. The BBC reports it was a single-vehicle crash. Hansard's performance in "Once," opposite Markéta Irglová, helped turn the low-budget indie film into an awards-season breakout.
