Per Variety, FIFA is planning to spin off the World Cup and other major soccer events into a separate commercial entity called FIFA Forward Enterprise, valued at approximately twenty billion dollars. The governing body intends to invite investors to take stakes in the new company. Opposition within the soccer world is intensifying, with some calling for a boycott of the tournaments in protest of the controversial privatization plan.
