A Russian father got 5 years for anti-war posts. Now his disabled son has been sentenced to 7 for ‘justifying terrorism.’

A military court in St. Petersburg has sentenced Daniil Belousov, a young man with cognitive impairments from central nervous system damage, to seven years in a penal colony on a charge of "justifying terrorism," according to Meduza. The closed-door case centered on messages Belousov allegedly posted in the "Net Voine," or "No War," chat, including photos from a pro-Ukrainian rally outside Moldova's parliament in Chisinau, with prosecutors saying he administered the channel. Meduza notes his father, Oleg Belousov, who had cared for his son, was himself sentenced to five years back in 2023 over anti-war and anti-Putin posts online. The father is now serving his sentence while his disabled son begins one of his own.
