Elon Musk’s xAI is trying to sue its way out of a Grok reckoning

xAI is trying to head off a legal reckoning over Grok by going on offense, according to Ars Technica. The company sued Grok users this month over alleged AI-generated child sex abuse material, then cited that suit in a Monday complaint arguing Minnesota's ban on nudification technology would unfairly make xAI liable for harmful outputs. xAI claims that going after its own users proves it's already policing bad actors and that Grok deserves safe harbor from the state's rule. The case comes as separate lawsuits push xAI to change Grok to block harmful outputs in the first place.
