The SS Richard Montgomery, a cargo ship sunk off England in nineteen forty-four, is losing its masts this September. Boing Boing reports specialist engineers will build a platform beside the wreck and spend several weeks cutting the three masts below sea level. The forward holds will stay untouched—still holding the one thousand four hundred tonnes of wartime explosives that have rested there for over eighty years.
