Ars Technica reports that HAWK, a post-quantum cryptography algorithm under consideration for U.S. standardization, has been withdrawn. An Anthropic security model called Mythos discovered a flaw during NIST's third round of testing that rendered the algorithm broken. The algorithm's developer withdrew it after Anthropic announced the discovery.
