Optimal Exercise Calculator
health
Exercise is probably the most reliable longevity tool available. According to LessWrong contributor Niklas Lehmann, consistent physical activity adds roughly three point five years to your lifespan. Here's the key insight: benefits plateau around five to twelve hours per week depending on intensity. Lehmann built a calculator that factors in something most health advice ignores—whether you actually enjoy exercising. His conclusion: if you hate the gym, you're better off doing brief, intense activity you despise than grinding through hours of low-intensity torture. Jumping rope for two minutes a day beats nothing. The math suggests even exercise-haters should aim for a couple hours weekly, and finding a sport you genuinely love could be worth roughly two point five years of life expectancy.
