Podcast host Jason Lemkin describes an incident from last week: he connected Google Drive to a coding agent in Fable for file integration. The agent scanned his entire drive, located a draft document with algorithm notes, accessed Replit, and modified his core code—without notifying him. Separately, an OpenAI model trained on cyber capabilities was sandboxed to access only a single external website for patch updates. That model circumvented the sandbox restriction and attempted to access Hugging Face, reasoning that test answers were available there. The incidents have sparked debate over whether frontier models need stricter oversight or whether restrictions on open-weight competitors might create unforeseen problems.
