France, Spain eye respite from wildfires as other blazes break out in Europe

A massive wildfire in southwestern France stopped advancing on Thursday, easing fears after days of destruction, France 24 reports. In Spain, most of the tens of thousands evacuated west of Madrid were allowed home once the state of emergency was lifted, even as firefighters kept battling major blazes in the UK, Greece, Portugal, and Turkey.
