Ebola outbreak in DRC the fastest growing in the history of the virus
health
Health officials in the Democratic Republic of Congo say this Ebola outbreak is now the fastest-growing in the virus's known history. The Guardian reports 3,360 confirmed cases across five eastern provinces, with 1,487 deaths — a case fatality rate of about forty-five percent. Conflict in many affected areas has badly hampered the response, and a vaccine against this strain, Bundibugyo, may still be months away.
