Spain says almost 50,000 migrants crossed Morocco-Ceuta border over past 24 hours

At least eighteen people have died as nearly fifty thousand migrants crossed from Morocco into Spain's north African enclave of Ceuta within twenty-four hours, Spain's Interior Ministry said on Friday. Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez was set to arrive in the city later that day. Ceuta is a Spanish enclave on Africa's north coast, bordering Morocco, and a longstanding flashpoint for irregular crossings into the EU.
