An API for MoQ: provision your own isolated relays

Cloudflare is making it easier to build real-time streaming and messaging apps. The company is launching an API for MoQ—a new open protocol for low-latency media delivery under development at the IETF. At its core, MoQ uses a publish-subscribe model where relay servers copy data streams to subscribers at scale. Cloudflare opened MoQ relays globally last year but had to skip authentication to keep them simple—limiting them to testing. Today's API adds security and access controls, letting developers create isolated relays that deploy globally in seconds with zero server management. It's free during beta. Cloudflare ensures each relay gets separate publisher and subscriber credentials, so a viewer can't take over a broadcast. The company is also documenting this provisioning design as an industry standard proposal, so other CDNs can adopt the same approach and make MoQ a true open platform.
