NASA’s Roman Telescope to Carry 1.35 Million Names to Deep Space

On July twenty-seventh, NASA technicians at Kennedy Space Center installed a memory card on the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope carrying one point three five million names from people around the world. The telescope will travel to L2, a gravitational balance point about one million miles from Earth. It's named for Dr. Nancy Grace Roman, NASA's first chief astronomer, who championed space-based observatories to study the universe from above Earth's atmosphere. NASA and SpaceX are targeting launch no earlier than August thirtieth aboard a Falcon Heavy.
