A Rare and Deadly Tick Virus With No Cure Has Taken Hold in New York

Stony Brook researchers have confirmed New York's first case of Bourbon virus, a rare tick-borne illness with no known cure or vaccine, io9 reports. The virus was first identified in Bourbon County, Kansas, in 2014, and has since been detected in only a handful of U.S. states.
