At least 57 people die as tens of thousands cross to Spanish enclave of Ceuta from Morocco

At least fifty-seven people have died trying to reach the Spanish enclave of Ceuta after as many as fifty thousand migrants entered the territory from Morocco within twenty-four hours, The Guardian reports. Spain's prime minister, Pedro Sánchez, called the influx a violation of Spain's territorial integrity, and the surge overwhelmed a city of eighty-five thousand people, triggering a political crisis in Madrid. Other EU countries have criticized Spain over the incident, with some calling for Spain to be suspended from the Schengen free-movement zone.
