In flood-prone Malawi, bananas become a shield against erosion

Per RFI English, Davie Kampira, a farmer in southern Malawi, planted 34 banana suckers on degraded land in 2024 and has since transformed it into a nine-hectare banana estate, complete with houses and a shop that support his family.
