Universidad de California rompe relaciones con la Patrulla Fronteriza tras protestas estudiantiles

politics

UC San Diego's campus police have ended their partnership with Operation Stonegarden, a federal grant program that funded collaboration with U.S. Border Patrol. After CalMatters revealed the decade-long arrangement in February, students protested what they saw as a threat to undocumented and international students. Campus police leadership agreed to withdraw from the program and won't seek future funding. A Homeland Security audit has since raised broader questions about the initiative: only fifteen percent of the roughly eleven million annual dollars Operation Stonegarden distributes to California law enforcement goes toward drug interdiction, despite the program's stated focus on drug and human trafficking.
