DOJ admits the Reflecting Pool "vandal" was the contractor

Boing Boing reports the Department of Justice indicted former Olympian David Hearn for felony vandalism of the Reflecting Pool. The charge stemmed from Hearn touching a loose liner panel. The DOJ announced it had "tremendous evidence" of his wrongdoing, but according to Boing Boing, that evidence actually showed the contractor who installed the pool had botched the job, leaving the panel unsecured. The indictment rests on the contractor's negligence, not wrongdoing by Hearn.
