Turning Glass Into a Touch-Sensitive Button

Per Hackaday, maker Sokol used ITO-coated glass — that's indium tin oxide, transparent and electrically conductive — to build a touch-sensitive button. Two sheets of ITO-coated glass face each other, separated by thin paper. Press on them, the glass flexes, the conductive layers touch, and the circuit closes. It works like a resistive touchscreen, where the resistance between the surfaces determines the touch position. The result is a working prototype for DIY multi-touch surfaces built from glass, paper, and firmware.
