Petrol prices on track to top $2 a litre as Bowen sounds death knell for fuel excise relief

business

Australian petrol is on track to reach a new high. According to The Guardian, prices already exceed one dollar ninety cents per litre in every capital city and are expected to surpass two dollars once the government's fuel excise discount ends on Sunday. Diesel is approaching two dollars forty per litre and expected to exceed that. The relief—sixteen cents per litre—is all that remains of a thirty-two-cent cut introduced in March and then halved in July.
