New effort will get genome sequences for entire Endangered Species list
science
Conservationists are launching an ambitious project to map the complete genomes of every species on the United States Endangered Species list. According to Ars Technica, Colossal Biosciences will be storing tissue samples from these animals as a genetic archive. Having full genomic blueprints could eventually help scientists breed healthier populations or restore genetic diversity in species on the brink of extinction.
