Two brothers filled a Harlem brownstone with 140 tons of stuff

According to Boing Boing, police broke into a Harlem brownstone at 2078 Fifth Avenue in March 1947 after finding the doors wired shut and the foyer packed solid with old newspapers, folding beds, and even parts of a wine press. A patrolman climbed through a second-story window and dug for five hours before finding the body of Homer Collyer, one of two brothers whose home was reportedly stuffed with about one hundred forty tons of belongings.
