EU to hold urgent meeting after Spanish PM calls Ceuta crisis response ‘selfish’

The EU will hold an urgent meeting of interior ministers after political unity broke down over the arrival of more than fifty thousand irregular migrants in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in north Africa. Spanish prime minister Pedro Sánchez accused some EU countries, particularly Italy, of weaponising the crisis rather than showing solidarity, calling the response "polarising and unlawful." Officials from EU member states and the Frontex border agency met on Saturday to address the fallout.
