UV Printer? 3D Printer? HeyGears says “Why Not Both”?

tech

Hackaday is reporting on a new UV printer called the HeyGears G1 hitting Kickstarter with an unusual combination: full-color 3D printing plus traditional UV flatbed printing—on anything. The build volume is four hundred twenty by three hundred twenty by one hundred thirty millimeters, with a resin tank holding up to six kilograms of UV ink and layer resolution as fine as ten micrometers. The CMYK ink kit costs about one hundred eighty-nine dollars MSRP, and here's the practical appeal: you're not locked into their cartridges. HeyGears sells ink in bottles, so you can mix in third-party brands. Early review units are delivering on the specs, which is encouraging. The Kickstarter early-bird price is two thousand dollars—though expect the full retail price to be higher.
