‘Stop all outdoor activities’: South Korea records its highest ever temperature

South Korea has recorded its highest temperature since modern weather observation began in 1904. The Guardian reports the south-eastern city of Yangsan hit forty-two point five degrees Celsius on Sunday afternoon, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration, as authorities urged people to immediately stop all outdoor activities in affected areas. The alert warned that indoor spaces without air conditioning are now considered dangerous, with temperatures topping forty degrees Celsius for a fifth straight day.
