Closed court, no jury: a legal expert explains what’s happening with Alan Jones’ trial

The criminal trial of former radio host Alan Jones, who turned eighty-five in April, is underway in Sydney's Downing Centre Local Court. He faces twenty-two charges, including twenty counts of indecent assault and two of sexual touching, with six male complainants set to describe incidents alleged to have occurred between two thousand three and twenty twenty at his properties in Sydney and the Southern Highlands. Jones denies all wrongdoing and has pleaded not guilty. As The Conversation explains, the court is closed to the public due to the small courtroom, and Jones's defence has opted for a judge-alone trial, heard by Judge Glenn Walsh without a jury.
