How Israeli conduct in the West Bank could derail Donald Trump’s latest peace plan for Gaza

world

According to The Conversation, a UCL international relations professor who just returned from a month of fieldwork in the West Bank warns that the region could unravel Donald Trump's Gaza disarmament roadmap, even after Hamas's agreement to it. She documented checkpoints, settler violence, and displaced refugee camps, including one settlement of thirty-three thousand people forced out by the Israeli military in January twenty twenty-five. She reports around two thousand five hundred documented settler attacks in the West Bank so far in twenty twenty-six, attacks that six hundred former senior Israeli officials called terrorism in a late-July open letter. Her sources warn that any spark of violence there could give Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu a pretext to expand military operations and derail Gaza negotiations entirely.
