Convent of Santa Maria de Mave in Santa María de Mave, Spain

other

According to Atlas Obscura, the Convent of Santa Maria de Mave in northern Spain has been transformed from a centuries-old religious retreat into a boutique hotel. The ninth-century monastery—originally founded by King Alphonse III—retains its Romanesque church, complete with white storks nesting in its bell tower. The conversion sympathetically preserves original features, and guests can stay in what were once monks' cells, blending monastic history with modern comfort.
