Scottish seabird hunt cancelled for first time in 400 years

For the first time in four hundred years, a controversial Scottish seabird hunt will not go ahead this year, The Guardian reports. NatureScot has refused to license the annual guga hunt on the Hebridean island of Sula Sgeir, which normally involves the killing of up to two thousand gannet chicks over a ten-day period. Animal welfare campaigners have called the decision a victory for common sense.
