Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced changes to prisoner early release policies in England and Wales to address critical overcrowding. The plan allows those convicted of sexual or violent offences to leave after half their sentence, with the exception of rapists, child sexual abusers, and groomers, who remain excluded. The Guardian is reporting that the rollout has been delayed by a month to October, affecting thousands of prisoners.
