Calls for UK bank tax to fund cost of living help as HSBC profits hit £7.5bn

The Guardian reports that HSBC posted seven point five billion pounds in second-quarter profits, a sixty percent increase from the year before, boosted by higher interest rates along with gains in wealth management and insurance services. The strong results have renewed calls from campaigners for a windfall tax on UK banks, which they argue could generate nineteen billion pounds toward cost of living support.
