Nue’s Guided Selling Playbook Took 2 Minutes to Build. The Full Implementation Still Takes 90 Days.

Per SaaStr's coverage of SaaStr AI Day this week, Nue.io's James McArthur demonstrated an AI agent building a guided selling playbook in about two minutes, writing rules directly against a live product catalog. But the session didn't gloss over the gap: implementation takes about ninety days on average, sometimes a year. The bottleneck isn't the AI—it's your data. McArthur was direct: you can't migrate an existing broken process into a CPQ system, and an agent building quotes from a messy product catalog will just produce wrong quotes faster. In the demo, the agent did something notable: it self-reported that it couldn't access usage data, and refused to oversell when a rep requested more than they were allowed. That's the harder work—not generation, but guard rails. For any business evaluating AI into quote-to-cash, the lesson is the same: configuration got cheap, implementation didn't.
