A Record 14 Billion-Dollar Rounds In July Pushed Venture’s Historic Run Higher

business

Crunchbase data shows July was a record-breaking month for venture capital, with startups raising sixty-five billion dollars globally—double the amount from a year earlier. The month also logged fourteen billion-dollar funding rounds, more than any previous month on record. These mega-rounds came from nine U.S. companies, two each from Germany and China, and one from Singapore. Blue Origin, Jeff Bezos's space company, secured the biggest single deal at ten billion dollars, marking its first external financing ever. Safe Superintelligence, a frontier AI lab founded by former OpenAI Chief Scientist Ilya Sutskever, raised five billion dollars from Nvidia, while Beijing-based Moonshot AI pulled in three point five billion dollars following the release of its Kimi K3 model. July was equally robust for startup exits, with venture-backed M&A hitting nine billion dollars and twelve companies going public at valuations above one billion dollars. Chinese chipmaker ChangXin Memory Technologies led the IPO pack at around eighty-five billion dollars, surging four hundred sixty-six percent on its debut. Overall, about thirty-five billion dollars of July's venture capital—roughly half the total—went to AI-focused companies.
