Installing structural beams on a ceiling to support art installations #ArtTuesday

other

Per Adafruit Blog, Patten Studio—founded by MIT Media Lab PhD James Patten—has been creating suspended art installations that hang from structural beams embedded in ceilings. Their recent projects include All Points Canada, a kinetic sculpture, and Ceramic Cloud, which features light fixtures controlled by DMX systems, both installed at Google Toronto. The studio's secret to success is modular design. The sculptures break down into puzzle-piece-like sections that mount directly to the building's architecture, keeping structural components hidden above the ceiling and the finished art visible below. This approach simplifies both installation and maintenance.
